About the Author
I am ES.Joseph and a MOE teacher with more than 10 years of teaching experience at Government schools, notably (in chronological order) at Clementi Town Sec, Naval Base Sec, Presbyterian High, CHIJ St Joseph and Farrer Park Primary. Several batches of students comprising various academic strata: Normal Tech (NT), Normal Academic (NA) as well as Express (E) passed through my hands as did students that I had also taught at International Schools and at various tuition centres. Aside from Pedagogy, I also possess competencies in Instructional Design and Curriculum Development as well as in Holistic Student Education & Development. Apart from educational practice, I pursued other professional interests in landscaping and in chartered financial analysis. In Nov 2019, I decided to take a leap of faith and pivot myself as a mid-careerist professional by gaining 21st century industrial-relevant skills and experience with the focus on gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the latest issues and trends surrounding digitization practices as well as the use of technology across various paradigms dedicated to shaping the future of Singapore through the translation of the latest research findings into practice. To this end, I decided to embark on various industrial-relevant courses such as user-experience (UX) design and healthcare management with biopharmaceuticals being my latest. Several ICT-related certifications were also added to my growing list of portfolio in the likes of Python, R-programming, data analytics, big data and supply chain management as well as excel and spreadsheet management - the goal of which was to enhance the robustness of my relevancy and employability through constant upgrading. It was in the midst of pursuing for the afore-mentioned industrial courses and my recently concluded Masters Degree programme at NIE, NTU that I had applied my acquired competencies in data analytics, statistical techniques and research methodologies. The culmination of all this put me in good stead for several stints at market research resulting in me completing several projects for my final year thesis.
